Countries for Studying Abroad

Where should you go to study? It's the question everyone asks themselves when deciding to study abroad. There is no perfect answer — it all depends on your goals, budget, language and plans for the future.

At Edunation we have put together a series of concise guides to the most popular destinations. Each one covers the key visa requirements, language thresholds, admission deadlines, common mistakes and the real steps involved in getting ready. Here are the main differences between countries to help you get your bearings.

Free or affordable education

If your budget is limited, consider Germany (free), the Czech Republic (free in Czech), Italy and Spain (inexpensive public universities). France also offers affordable tuition at its state universities.

Language of instruction

English is the most versatile option. It is enough to gain admission to the United Kingdom, the USA, Ireland and Australia, as well as to many programmes in Germany, the Netherlands and Scandinavia. If you are ready to learn a new language, consider Germany (German), France (French), Spain (Spanish), Italy (Italian), China (Chinese), Japan (Japanese) or South Korea (Korean).

The option to stay after your studies

If your goal is immigration, choose countries with welcoming policies. Australia, Canada and Ireland offer 1–2 years to find a job after graduation. The United Kingdom — 2–3 years through the Graduate Route. The USA — 1–3 years through the OPT programme. Germany gives you 18 months to find a job after a Master's degree.

Difficulty of admission

The easiest places to gain admission are the Czech Republic, Italy or Spain — provided you know the language and pass the entrance examinations. It is harder in the United Kingdom (a Foundation course is needed after school) and the USA (the SAT and a demanding interview are required). China and Japan require serious language preparation and the passing of national tests.

Climate and culture

For lovers of sun and sea — Spain, Italy, Malta, Australia. For those who prefer a temperate climate — Germany, France, Ireland, the United Kingdom. For those ready for culture shock and discipline — China, Japan, South Korea.

Our country guides will help you take the first step. Each one covers the essentials: language and document requirements, visa types, deadlines and an admission plan, and common mistakes. Choose the destination that interests you and start preparing today.

And if you are unsure or want to compare several countries — just write to us. We will find the best option for your budget and goals free of charge. With Edunation, studying abroad is real and within reach.
